School Counseling

The Cleveland Heights High School Counseling team includes four school counselors assigned to students alphabetically by last name, three social workers, a guidance counselor who is focused on college entrance and scholarships, and an administrative assistant.

The team works with students and parents to engage students, foster achievement, and inspire excellence.

Parents/guardians are part of our team, and we look forward to assisting families and students with their academic, personal/social, and college/career needs.

The School Counselors and Social Workers are:
  • Child advocates who work collaboratively with parents, students, teachers, administrators and communities
  • Educational specialists who assist students with their academic, career development and personal/social areas
The Goals of the Counseling Department:
  • Assist students with educational, personal, career and goal planning
  • Develop personalized programs based on each student’s strengths and needs
  • Help students understand themselves and others
  • Assist students in identifying and dealing with problems
  • Identify students with special needs
  • Provide crisis intervention when necessary
  • Coordinate referrals to school and community support services
  • Serve as a resource to students, parents, teachers, and administrators

Graduation Requirements

Students must complete 20 course credits in the following:
  • 4 credits of English
  • 4 credits of Math
  • 3 credits of Science
  • 3 credits of Social Studies
  • 0.5 credits of Physical Education or 2 PE waivers
  • 0.5 credits of Health Education
  • 0.5 credits of Financial Literacy
  • 5 credits of Elective
    • 1 of which must be a full Fine Art credit or Middle School Art Waiver

PSAT School Day (10th & 11th Graders): October 15, 2025
Fall OST Testing Window: December 1-19, 2025
SAT School Day: March 4, 2026
Spring OST Testing Window: April 2 - May 8, 2026
AP Testing Window: May 4 - 15, 2026
 
If you have a student that has an IEP or 504, please complete the Consent Form for Accommodations Request to ensure your student receives testing accommodations.
 

Career & College Planning Resources

The College and Scholarship Office is open to all students. Available materials include online college and career databases, scholarship resources, trade and technical school directories, armed services information and registration materials for the ACT and SAT.
 
Admissions representatives from over 90 colleges and universities hold College Conference Meetings during the school day each fall with information for students about a wide variety of schools.
 
College/University Admission Counselors can register for a meeting date and time at Cleveland Heights High School.
